Resources

If you have not yet noticed, I have added a list of links of local and national resources for Earth care. Far from a comprehensive list, these are a few of the links and organizations that I check in with frequently. I will most certainly add and subtract as time passes.

I could write a post on each of them but I barely have time to post the links themselves. So, I encourage you to thoroughly investigate them. Comment on them. Suggest others. Hopefully there will be something there that inspires you to action, lets your family flourish in local activism and grow together for a common cause.

Please let me know if they help!

Hi Chris: Mary just drew my attention to your blog when I was recently ranting about the state of the environment and our politicians lack of doing anything meaningful. It seems that we share sleepless nights spent thinking about this. I have had a week of hopelessness when it comes to the environment, and then there were a couple of nuggets of hope this week (there always are, but I just needed some more obvious ones to knock me over the head). I really think that your blog is great and I hope lots of people read it and jump on the bandwagon! Best of luck to you.

Julie,
Great to hear from you. Thanks for the compliment. I invite your involvement in my blog and suggestions. As frustrating and dissapointing as it seems, I have always felt the key to success with environmental issues lies with the people. The politicians will begin to listen when it bites them in the polls. And, business will only begin to listen when it bites them in the wallet. Cinical I know, but this is one issue the the common man has the power to change and frequently it seems to large to one person to make a difference. As desperatley as I want to see change I have to temper myself with how can I show the way for those around me to make small changes that lead to bigger ones.

Later in this blog I will be discussing some of the influence and work I have been doing in the construction industry. I am SO excited about this stuff and it has been me pushing, pushing, pushing this along.

Blessings to you, Kyle and Ansel. Don't give up hope or the fight. We all need more of you.

I just got this in my newsletter from Traders Point:
"Recycle Here

Our philosophy here at Traders Point Creamery is to "Nourish The Land That Nourishes Us All". We believe recycling is one way to nourish. Instead of throwing out plastic, cardboard, newsprint, glass or aluminum, please recycle! If recycling is not available in your area, please feel free to drop your recyclables in the appropriate bins at the end of our customer parking lot. We have large dumpsters dedicated solely to newspaper and cardboard with smaller plastic bins for glass, plastic and aluminum recycling.

Many of you ask if our bottles are returnable. They are not at this time. We are working toward being able to reuse the bottles in the future. However, now, we are only able to recycle the glass and plastic containers that we use for our products.

We also recycle egg cartons for our eggs. Feel free to return the cartons to the farm store for a refill or for the next person.

Thank you for all you do to help us nourish and sustain!"

I see you already have them linked in your blog, but I didn't know how much recycling they took, so I thought I'd pass this along for you to share.
